You would have surely used a candle many times at many places for different purposes but have you seen a MAGIC CANDLE.If yes, you would have wondered how did it ignite even after blowing it off?. Have you?
Well your answer is right here :) I will make it easier for you to understand and make sure you don't get bored by the technical stuff. But, you do have to listen to some science terms in order to understand it completely.
All candles are made of PARAFFIN WAX which is a product from Crude oil like Petrol and Diesel. There is a wick which has good absorbing properties. On lighting a candle you provide heat enough for melting the wax and this liquid wax comes up to the tip of the wick and burns. This is how a normal candle works. But what makes magic candles re-ignite is the use of some metals like MAGNESIUM which is added to the wick and this does the trick.
But, Whats the trick? before explaining that i will have to explain you a small theory (don't worry its really small). Ok now, You would have seen a ribbon of WHITE SMOKE after you blow a candle and thats nothing but PARAFFIN VAPOUR. So a little more heat is enough to re-ignite the flame and thus the candle. So, the magnesium metal which burns at the temperature of "Blown Candle wick" gives back life to the candle. This is when you see SPARKS at the tip of the wick.
One more fact for you - The temperature of a burning candle is about 600-1400 degree celcius.
