Temperature is a very important feature. Whether it's our BODY or an Engine, too high temperature and too low temperature results in disorder. Have you ever bothered about controlling your body temperature? You might have done to an extent but the fact is that is our body is pre-loaded with automatic temperature control feature.
This is what your body does to control your body temperature at an optimum level.
When our body gets heated up because the temperature of your skin keeps rising which is not good for our health. Sensors in our skin senses this and sends signal to the hypothalamus gland which then orders the sweat glands to produce sweat. Our body has about 2-3 million sweat glands. These glands produce sweat which flows through our skin and takes the heat out of our body. The sweat coats our body carries away the heat thus cooling our body. So the coolant of our body is SWEAT.
When our body temperature goes down, the hypothalamus gland makes our skin to contract. Which is when we feel goose-bumps and our hairs stand up. If the body temperature goes down further then it makes our body muscles to contract and expand quickly. The reaction of this is what we call SHIVERING. This is how shivering helps our body to protect our body heat from being lost to the environment.
