No one knows how this 2-alphabet word got popularised and even we don't know the expansion of OK. It is said that OK was used with a so called "OK" Gesture.
This Gesture got popularised in the USA during the early nineteenth century when the trend of shortening the common phrases had started.
Some believe the initials O.K. stood for All Correct which was originally misspelled as oll korrect, while some say that it is the opposite of Knock-Out (KO). While there is another popular theory that OK is the abbreviation of "Old Kinderhook", which is the birthplace of an American President who used this Initials OK while campaigning.This O Gesture (shown above) represents OK in America and is also being used in European and Asian Countries.
In France, this OK Gesture means ZERO or NOTHING. In Japan, it means MONEY. But, you better be careful if you are in Mediterranean Countries because there it is used to infer a man is homosexual.

I think the origin is from a person's name "Obedia Kelly" who was appointed to check the cargo transported through rail. His sign meant that the parcel was checked and it is good to go. Later the his short sign O.K. turned into this after people started using it for mentioning appreciation or confirmation.

I believe O.K was the sign of a German official who worked for FIAT company....only when he signs the product were approve."If O.k signs then its Ok" Well later it spread all around the world :)
