           This post consists of purely factual data. The number 108 is special and considered sacred in many eastern religions especially in Hinduism and Buddhism.               Indian Sages think that the outer cosmology (Space and heavenly bodies - the UNIVERSE) is the mirror of the inner cosmology of the human. We don't know the HEIGHT (extent) of the universe and similarly we don't know the DEPTH of our inner SOUL. Therefore, the number 108 is also taken to represent the 'distance' from the body of the devotee to the God within us. This is why the number 108 is significant in Hinduism.
